Basic characteristic
1. |
Group control of SmartComII adopts a centralized group control technology namely a group controller dedicated to the registration and allocation for hall call. The group controller allocates the hall call signal according to the principle of “ shortest waiting time “ through which the distance between the floors, registration status of hall call and car command, by-pass status, reversal running etc. are all taken into account.
Real time-allocation chooses the elevators that are possible to answer the call in the fastest response time, thus the transportation capability of the elevators can be fully excavated and the elevator operation efficiency is significantly enhanced. To meet different requirements, the group control system may supply the functions such as “energy saving mode”; “up/down peak services”; “disperse car waiting”, etc. so as to enhance the operation efficiency. |
2. |
The group control system can manage max. 8 elevators with landings up to max. 48, which allows wide range of application. |
3. |
The signal transmission between the group controller and elevator main controller uses CAN-BUS serial communication which ensures high speed and reliable transmission of massive data. |
4. |
The group control system has backup running function. Even if the group controller is broken down, under maintenance or power cutting off, every single elevator can still keep backup running which is similar to simplex. Once the group controller is restored, the elevators return to group control mode automatically. |
5. |
The group control system has the function that can automatically cut off the elevator that responds slowly. In case the system identify a elevator which still does not close the door to run after receiving the allocated hall call signal for a long time, the system will cut off that elevator and re-allocate the hall call signals to ensure no longer waiting time for the passenger. |
6. |
When the main controller of individual elevator is energized, the hall call button signals of every elevator are transmitted to the group controller via the main controller of individual elevator, then the group controller will send back the registered hall call signal via the main controller of individual elevator to landing/ indicator board of every floor to acknowledge a landing call and light the call button. If any one of the main controller losses power, the group controller will communicate directly with the call/ indicator board to ensure that the hall call buttons of that elevator can continue to work effectively under group control. |
7. |
Group controller board is mounted with LED indicators by which we can directly monitor the effectiveness of the communication between the group controller and the main controller of individual elevator. Moreover, the input ports of group controller board can be also monitored by the corresponding LED indicators which can tell whether the input ports are effectively connected or not. |

Main functions
1. |
Automatic homing to main floor: In the group control system, when there is no elevator at the main floor, the elevator which is not allocated and which will reach the main floor most easily will return automatically to the main floor, and then waits with door closed. The transportation ability of elevator for main floor can be thus enhanced. |
2. |
Disperse car waiting: If all elevators under the group control system are idle for more than one minute, the group control system will start the disperse car waiting mode:
a)In case there is no elevator at the main floor or at floors below the main floor, the system will allocate one elevator which will reach the main floor most easily, to the main floor, with the door closed and wait.
b)In case there are two or more elevators in normal use, and there is no elevator in the mid-level floors or above, the system will allocate one elevator which will reach the higher level floors most easily , to the higher level floors, with the door closed and wait. |
3. |
Up peak services:If the system selects this function, during the up peak time (set by the timer relay, also can be switched on manually), when more than 3 commands are registered in the elevator running upwards above the main floor, the system will start the up peak services and will send elevators to the main floor to standby with door open (. send 2 for 2-3 lift group; send 3 for 4-5 lift group; send 4 for 6-7 group; send 5 for 8 lift group). When the up peak time is over (set by the timer relay or by manual), the elevator will resume to normal status. |
4. |
Down peak services: If the system selects this function, during the down peak time (set by the timer relay, also can be switched on manually), when the elevators are full-loaded and traveling downwards from the upper floors to the main floor, the system will start the down peak services and will send elevators to the highest landing to standby with door closed (lift numbers sent is the same as that mentioned in “Up peak services”). When the down peak time is over (set by timer relay or by manual), or when no full loading is detected for the descending elevators above the main floor for 2 consecutive minutes, the system will resume to normal status. |
5. |
Service floor switched over: The group control system of SmartComII provides two preset elevator service floor schemes under specified situation for the customer’s selection, this is made through the control of two switches (or by two timer relays), when one of the switches is switched on, the elevator will serve the floors according to one of the preset scheme, whilst when the other switch is switched on, the elevator will serve the floors according to the other scheme. Each scheme requires presetting; it can specify every elevator to respond to the commands on specified floors, to respond to up calls or down calls on specified floors. |
6. |
Group split function: If this function is selected, a switch for group split is provided. When this switch is switched on, the group control will spit into two independent groups according to the settings preset. When this switch is switched off, the elevators will resume to normal status. |
7. |
Enforced simplex mode running: If this function is selected, an enforced simplex mode running switch is provided in car operation panel. When this switch is switched on, the corresponding elevator will run in a simplex mode manner, when this switch is switched off, the elevator will resume to normal group control status. |
8. |
Energy saving mode: If this function is selected, when the system detects that the number of elevators in service is more than the requirement to meet the minimum service demands, the system will gradually reduce the number of elevator in service until the number of elevators in service is equal to the required number or until only one elevator is in service. The elevators not in service will be at sleeping mode and the elevator running frequency is reduced accordingly, thus effects energy saving. And vice versa, when the system detects that the number of elevator in service is less than the required number for service, the system will gradually wake up the elevators that are in sleeping mode, until the number of elevators in service meets the requirement. |
9. |
Emergency power operation: Only under the two conditions can such function be selected: firstly, for elevators with group control function, secondly, the building is equipped with emergency power supply equipment. When power failure occurs and switches over to the emergency power supply, the group system will allocate the elevators sequentially to return to the main landing, door opens and releases passengers, at this time in order to prevent that the power of the emergency power supply is insufficient, as simultaneous running of several elevators will cause overloading of power supply, the system will decide according to the preset parameters which elevators of the group should be continued to run and which elevators of the group should not run. |
